Jack Pine Pollen - 10 kV

Pine pollen imaged at 10 kV


This image is an Environmental Scanning Electron Microscope (ESEM) image of some air-dried Jack Pine pollen grains collected from near Mio in Michigan.  The 10 kV electrons penetrate less far into the pollen grains than the 30 kV electrons.  The image has a much less "translucent" appearance than the 30 kV image, but the internal structure of the grains can still be detected.
